David asked Papi Behar for Rebecca’s hand in marriage just a week after making the move from New York City to Miami. Several months later, David was more than ready to ask Rebecca too. David took Rebecca to the beach in Key Biscayne, a place special to the both of them, and they enjoyed sandwiches and serenity. As they were leaving, David wanted to find out some more about the lighthouse that they had been eying from the beach. As they read about its history and the fact that it was the oldest landmark in Miami, David noticed the gate had been left unlocked. He decided to be adventurous and head in and he somehow got Rebecca to join him. As they were walking down a tree-lined path to the lighthouse by the sea, a guard suddenly called out to stop them. The two nervously explained their intentions and the guard finally decided to let them check it out. David and Rebecca ascended 119 grueling steps to the top of the lighthouse and to a gorgeous view of the water and the sunset. As they were admiring the view, David pointed at something he couldn’t quite make out below. Suddenly, Rebecca saw “WILL U MARRY ME?” written in seaweed on the beach far below. David had white roses ready, some things he wanted to say, and of course a ring! They talked about how the lighthouse represents the life they want to live together, ascending steps and overcoming challenges and ultimately uniting to be a beacon of light to their families, loved ones and the world. And now… we’re getting married!
